Sometimes people misthink that entrepreneurship is an selfish act… Mainly because they think you “just want to make money”.
Yes you will make money. But more importantly you will make contribution to bettering other people’s lives.
In this post, you will learn why entrepreneurship is one of the best thing you can do for others.
Everything comes from entrepreneurship
You can’t survive even a day without entrepreneurs working for you.
Think about your days.
How did you go to work/school? Probably involves some transportations, say a bus. Who created that bus? Who hired the driver? Who designed the route? The bus company has helped you reached your destination on time. If no one has ever created it, we would have to walk everywhere we go to with on feet!
How did you fill your stomach? Say you cook for yourself. Where did you buy the ingredients? The pan? Probably the supermarket. Who import those food (I bet most of the food you eat aren’t from your own country)? Who rented the location? Who hired people to arrange the stuff on the cupboards? The owner who created the supermarket. It helped you in a sense that you don’t have to grow your own crops and fruits or milk your cow!

How did you dress yourself today? Uniform, suits? Where did you get that?
Even your job (if you’re working). Who hired you? If your boss didn’t create that company, you don’t even have a post to work on. By then, if you want to make money, you will have to create your own.
Entrepreneurship is everywhere, and we cannot live without entrepreneurship, is the first thing you have to realise.
Ability to make money = Ability to create value FOR others
What did you spend your money at today? Probably things that can make your life better.
- You hop on the bus to save your time (vs walking).
- You arrive your job to make money.
- You grab takeaways to save your time (vs cooking).
- You go to nice restaurants because you want to enjoy the environment (e.g. the decorations, the music) and the nice meals they provide you with.
- You pay for your song-playing app because it lets you relax.
Everything you pay for is to make you feel better.
The bus company helped you. The company you’re working at helped you. The takeaway shop helped you. The restaurant owner helped you. The song-playing app developer helped you.
Imagine how difficult and poor our lives will be if no one goes into entrepreneurship.
Therefore, we should realise that entrepreneurship helps us live better, aka makes us wealthier (read also: Richness isn’t Wealth).
Should everyone go into entrepreneurship?
Well, it depends on whether YOU want to do it.
Everyone CAN go into entrepreneurship, but it’s not necessarily a must. People are different; we have different mindsets and visions for our lives. We want different things out of it.
Some are more adventurous, while some strive for security and stability. And there is no good or bad, just which one serves you more.
Are you happy with your current situation? If yes, congratulations; but if no, I suggest you take a step back and examine your life carefully and seriously.
Here are some questions you could ask yourself:
- What do you like and dislike about your current life?
- If you continue this life for 5 years, where will you end up at? Is it where you’d like to be?
- What is the one thing that you can change immediately to make your life better? e.g., building a new habit? (read also: Always start small)
Life is too short for us to waste on anything we don’t like. I genuinely hope that you could find your designated life path that makes you the happiest.
All the best!
