When you are too focused on what you want to achieve, you have no time to worry for what you cannot control.
The wisdom of life lies in your ability to differentiate what’s your business, other’s business, and god’s business.
If it’s yours, and dealing it CAN help you become the person you want to be, think “how to”.
Otherwise, that’s not your problem and you can happily leave it up to the air.
Now let’s talk about what’s “your business”.
Life is temporary
You won’t be here forever. Our existence is time-bound- yet not many realise that.
They procrastinate until nearly the end of their lives only to find out they’re about to leave this earth and they’ve already spent all the time they always think they “still have”, completely unaware of the fact that they were spending that non-stop.
“I wish I had done this when I still have life.”
“What would happen if I’ve tried this at that time?”
“How would my life look like if I stepped out of my comfort zone?”
“How does the world actually look like? I was yet to explore it cuz I wasted my time on things and people that are unworthy of it and now I no longer have the life for it.”
Don’t let it happen to you.
Don’t let your potentials and dreams that you could have brought to life, stare at you at your death bed, questioning your inaction and indifference.
Don’t let you disappoint you.
Your only mission in life
What’s the meaning of life? Have you ever asked yourself this question? Or other people? Or search online?
Well, you can look at every corner at this earth and would still not get the answer.
Why? Because dear, the answer lies WITHIN you.
Your life is all about you.
Look into the mirror. What do you see? Your familiar face. But- do you really know him/her?
What’s his/her dreams? What’s he/she always wanted to do? What kind of person does he/she wished to become deep down their souls, despite how others may judge, laugh at, or attempt to prevent them from doing so?
Life is about your soul.
We live for our souls- what our heart desires.
What we feel moved every time we think about it regardless of how other people- your family, friends, society- think about it.
This feeling cannot be taught or faked.
It’s born with.
And bringing that vision, that desire to life, IS the meaning of life.
Or what are you doing here? Working so hard for money, so you can survive, JUST to survive??
What’s the point?
Living 2.0- Become who you’re SUPPOSED to be
Yes, the person in your mind, that you’ve visualised yourself being, IS who you are CREATED to be by the creator- god, if you will.
Your desires are not there for no reasons.
Or why do you think your desires are so specific and not everyone wants it?
Yes, everyone would like to be healthy, look great, get rich, and build meaningful relationships.
But our personal goals- or say, specific means of achieving it- are very different.
Some want to become medical doctors while others want to become engineers, architect, or entrepreneurs.
Some wish to live in the busiest cities while others in the rural.
Some want to contribute to humanity by doing education while some wish to serve others by services.
We have different roles on earth because the world needs people doing different things to function.
And that’s the wisdom of the creator.
If we all want to do the same thing, how would the world become??
It can’t even function and we all can’t survive!
We need each other. We do not survive on our own but as a collective.
So, becoming who you want to become, isn’t just for your heart’s sake; it’s also for other people’s sake.
Imagine the world is a supermarket and you’re the cashier- yet you refused to stand behind the counter and refused to collect money- how can the supermarket work?
Or imagine the world is an airport and you’re the pilot- yet you refused to get in the plane at all!
What will the world become??
A chaos.
And perhaps to more of your concern, what will you become?
A sad, miserable, unfulfiled individual whose dreams never get realised before they leave this earth.
Your dreams and souls have been buried before you were.
“Many young men die at age 25, but are not buried until they’re 75.”
-Benjamin Franklin
Wake up and reclaim your power.
Live, don’t just exist
To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.’
-Oscar Wilde
Are you living, or simply existing?
Without a soul? Without dreams (or actions towards it)? Without directions?
Everyone is heading towards somewhere- whether you’re conscious or not.
Most lives deterioates as we get older. It’s entropy– if we do not build and maintain our lives with intention and effort, it will eventually fall apart regardless of how great it used to be.
This is the nature of life.
Just like how your hair become fried when you stop taking care of it.
How your skin become thick and dry when you stop doing your skin care routine.
How your desk and wardrobe become a mess when you stop rearranging them.
So, are you heading towards the better, or the worse?
5 tips to help you build your dream life
1st: Find your purpose
IMPORTANT: it’s a DISCOVERY, NOT a CREATION.
You were born with that desire.
You do not imagine what you want in your head.
You ask what you want in your heart.
Start by having some self-understanding- identifying who you currently are and what makes you this version of yourself.
Maybe your life experiences over the years have traumatised you into thinking that you are “unworthy”, “not good enough”, “not desired/loved”, or “unable to do great things”.
But none of these are facts; they are merely your perception, and most of the time, projected onto you by insecure people.
Reclaim your power by realising no opinion can define you and what defines you are your actions, which are 100% in your control.
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”
-Alice Walker
Realise that no one has control over you unless you believe they have.
Your parents/friends/society think you cannot do certain things (which of course, is a good thing and you want it out of a good heart), for example, pursuing your dreams by going back to school while your’re 50.
Why not???
Ignore them and do what’s right FOR YOU.
They won’t understand you because they are not you.
They are not feeling what you are feeling nor they want what you want.
They only feel what they feel and want what they want.
Living for others while being you is the biggest mistake you can make in life.
Reclaim your power by realising that you have full power and control over how you decide to live your life.
2nd: Use your willpower to build habits
Discipline, not willpower.
Willpower is limited and you only have so much within a day.
If you change everything in your life as once (as you are an ambitious person and would like to create the best for yourself, which I greatly appreciate and encourage), you’re likely to fail cuz everything you do will demand willpower and you will soon run out of it before your day ends.
Then you fall back to your old patterns and become convinced that you can never live that life of your dreams.
No.
Just change things one by one.
Use your limited willpower to establish new habits, one by one.
Eating healthier? Getting some workout/physical exercises? Starting to self-educate? Polishing your physical appearance?
Amazing. Do it one at a time. Once one is established and you kind of “no longer need your brain” to execute that behaviour, you can move on to the next one.
You are what you repeatedly do.
-Aristotle
As you build the essential habits that will bring you progress, they will slowly but consistently, bring you to where you’ve always wanted to be.
3rd: Remove your bad habits by replacing them with a better one
Let’s be honest, it’s not easy to remove a habit, because its execution is mindless and before you know about it, you’ve wasted your time there again.
However, bad habits are holding you back even more than a lack of good habits.
You‘re only as good as your worst habits.
-Amy Morin, 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do
Why? Because it’s how you and other people see you.
Imagine you’re a highly successful person with all the fame, money, and accomplishment.
Yet, you are a drug addict that has no self-control over drugs at all.
Imagine how both you and other people will be turned off by that!
So, we have to be careful of what bad habits we have that’s holding us back.
Start by examining one of your ordinary day. WRITE what you do on a daily basis on a paper, with respect to time.
e.g. wake up at 6:30 -> get ready 30 mins -> breakfast 30 mins -> logistics 30 mins -> arrive work/school at 8:00 -> leave office/school 16:00 -> gather with peers for 2 hours (18:00) -> go back home (18:30) -> dinner 30 mins -> scroll for 4 hours (23:00) -> go to bed.
Then you can clearly see where you spent your precious time at.
After that, we can start figuring out how can we spend the time we’ve got wiser, to help you become the person you always wanted to be.
For example, replace scrolling with reading. With exercising. With learning a new skill (e.g. coding).
It’s up to you; but make sure it’s enjoyable because you’d like to do it in the long-run, not just “today”.
Replacing habits is a good way to remove bad habits because if you don’t know what to do with all the extra time you’ve got, it’s hard not to fall back.
4th: Remove people who misalign with your new vision
“You’re the average of the five people spend the most time with.”
-Jim Rohn
It’s draining to have negative or toxic people around you when you’re trying to become better.
These are the type of people who don’t want to see you doing better because it makes them feel bad about themselves.
Seeing you win make them feel like a loser.
Instead of trying to improve themselves together with you, which takes lots of effort and not everyone has the determination nor guts to do that, they try to drag you down, which is much easier.
Don’t let them.
You don’t need extra burden while trying to climb up the mountain. You release all the weight you can by cutting everything (e.g. bad habits, as discussed; but also (especially) bad people) off to make your journey much easier and enjoyable.
Don’t feel bad doing that. YOU come first.
And if they want you, they will step up their game. If they didn’t- well, you know the answer.
5th: Use productivity apps e.g. calender, reminder, pomodoro apps
Humans are forgetful. We all are, and this is just how our human brains work (actively erasing memories).
As you are now motivated and have lots of ideas for how you change your life, while you still rememer them, and more importantly, that feeling– write them down.
Not on a physical paper which you may easily lose, jot that in your phone, in a secure place.
You make that plan, you make your promise, then you execute that every single day with the assistance of that app.
Make it reminds you at a regular timing every day.
This is a real deal- it can make or break you.
If you have an instinct to act on a goal, you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will kill it.
-Mel Robbins
Do it now! While you still want to change your life.
Or later your life will be as good as you’ve never read this article before.
You set the reminders, you excute them, and boom!
As time gradually passes, you become a whole new person that you would have never imagined you can (but you always wanted to).
It happens A LOT faster than you think.
But what’s important is DO NOT RUSH. Do NOT be desperate or anxious about the “results”.
We are supposed to be always making progress and evolving as we go through life.
There is no “destination”, only “journey”; there is no “best”, only “better”.
As long as you’re getting better, you’re a winner.
Enjoy the process and let the “results” manifest.
Your new journey starts now
Congradulations for making this far!
You’re now all set. You’re heading towards a new reality, and more importantly, becoming a new person, specifically the one you always have wanted to be!
I just want to let you know that nothing is impossible. Nothing is “too difficult” or “too good” for you.
We all deserve what our hearts desire because that’s literally the reason we are created.
We are supposed to be that person.
That’s the wisdom of the creator.
“Faith is believing in the unseen.”
“You don’t believe because you’ve seen; you see because you believed.”
Have faith in the creator’s wisdom, and yourself, and start moving towards your dreams gracefully.
